We are strong, and brave, and innocent, and unafraid. We are better than we think and not quite what we want to be. We are alive to the imaginations and the possibilities. We will continue to invent the future through our blood and tears and through all our sadness.
– Nikki Giovanni, University Distinguished Professor, Virginia Tech, following the tragic deaths on Monday, April 16, 2007

The pictures show quite a transition on the outside, but the core person is always there on the inside, even as it evolves and matures over time.

Happy WW! Ms. Giovanni is a woman who is very comfortable within her own skin. Her poetry during the Virginia Tech memorial will never be forgotten by those of us that witnessed it…
I invite your blog readers to enjoy imagery of our nation’s efforts to rise towards the heavens!
peace, Villager
